We now know who the number one contender to challenge NXT Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley at NXT TakeOver in Portland.
Bianca Belair won the women’s battle royal last night.
As for the other biggest story during the whole match, it was the return of Shayna in an NXT ring. None of us thought we would see her come back after her match with Ripley.
Everyone thought the WWE would be saving her for the women’s Royal Rumble match next Sunday in Houston.
It has been rumored for a long time that Shayna would win the rumble match and face Raw Women’s Champion, Becky Lynch, at WrestleMania.
With Shayna’s return, it has some fans wondering: Is Ronda Rousey poised to make a surprise return to win the Women’s Royal Rumble? I guess we will have to wait until next week to find out.
The other bigger story coming out of NXT Wednesday night was the reunion of DIY — Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano.
Gargano came into rescue Ciampa after the Undisputed Era came in and ambushed him.
Then later in the show, outside, more chaos ensued, and after everything, the two of them had a conversation about teaming up for old time’s sake.
DIY will be teaming up once again against the Mustache Mountain at WWE Worlds Collide in Houston next Saturday.
There was a triple threat match to name the contender to face the cruiserweight champion, Angel Garza.
It was between Isaiah “Swerve” Scott, Tyler Breeze, and Lio Rush.
It was an exciting match up between the three.
In the end, we get someone new to face Garza for the title, and that is Isaiah Scott.
All in all, it was a stacked card front to back with a lot of great matches. If there was a match of the night, it would have to be the women’s battle royal.
The under the radar match of the night for NXT would have to be the Time Splitters vs. Grizzled Young Veterans.
In a surprise, it was the Grizzled Young Veterans who would come out on top over the Time Splitters.
It will be interesting to see if the WWE will have Kushida and Alex Shelley teaming up for the long haul, or if they will be splitting the team up.
If I had a say, they should keep them together. The duo is an exciting tag team to watch, with a lot of awesome moves.
The crowd was so over on the Time Splitters last night, which is another indication they should keep the tag team together.
This was a terrific show with a lot of great matches in between, with some surprise returns.
I would rate this show as 4 out of 5.
Adding Shayna into the mix thinking we were going to get a rematch, but in the end, we didn’t was a great decision.
It will be interesting to see what the long-term booking will be for Shayna, whether it is in NXT or on Raw or SmackDown.
Either way, she will have a bright future.
